Discussion on Current Topic for the Managing Committee Members on the Minimum Wages/ Labor issues before the Managing Committee Meeting on Thursday, 30th November, 2023.

Shri Ramesh Chandra Lahoti, President, FKCCI welcomed Shri Mohammed Mohsin, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Labour for the discussion on Current Topic for the Managing Committee Members on the Minimum Wages/ Labor issues before the Managing Committee Meeting on Thursday, 30th November, 2023.

Shri M G Balakrishna, Sr. Vice President, FKCCI, Ms. Uma Reddy, Vice President, FKCCI, Mr. B V Gopal Reddy, Imm. Past President, FKCCI along with Smt. Malini, Additional Commissioner, Labour Department, and Past Presidents & Managing Committee Members were present.

The President gave a brief account on the issues relating to the Minimum Wages for Quashing and redoing of revision in Minimum Wages which is having an impact on Industries. He stated that, Government needs to take action to file the argument in the Hon’ble High Court in consultation with the Industries & Trade Bodies.

Members expressed their concern on the proposed substantial increase in Minimum Wages which will have an adverse effect on affecting the working of the Industrial Sector especially MSMEs.

Shri Mohammed Mohsin, IAS, said that, the Department is aware of all the issues relating to the case involving union, employers and other stakeholders. He also stated that, the Department of Industries and SSIs are also concerned about the effect of Minimum Wages on the Industrial Sectors. He said Government has started collecting information from all the concerned stakeholders including from the Districts for taking further action.

He also indicated that Trade Bodies like FKCCI and individuals can on their own take up the issue with the Hon’ble High Court.
