Mr. Ramesh Chandra Lahoti, President, FKCCI convened a meeting with Mr. G M Gangadharaswamy, IAS, Director, Department of Agricultural Marketing and Managing Director, KSAMB, GoK on Friday, 27th October 2023 at FKCCI.

Mr. M G Balakrishna, Sr. Vice President, Ms. Uma Reddy, Vice President, Mr B V Gopal Reddy Imm.Past President, Mr. Sanjay Bhasin, Chairman, APMC Committee along with Members of FKCCI, Members from District Chambers of Commerce & Industries, Members from APMC had participated in the Interactive Meeting.

The President in his address mentioned that Government should safeguard and develop the APMC and for an effective functioning of APMC, there is a need to create Online Technology Platform – a Portal for activities in APMC as well as to introduce “Payment Gateway”. This will enable APMC to carry out all day to day activities like Registration, Issue of Licenses, Upload Returns and Statements at regular intervals by linking to respective GSTN.

He also requested the Government to withhold cancellation of licenses issued to around 2000 License Holders across Market Yards in Karnataka and give them time upto 31st March, 2024 to rescope from the impact of the COVID pandemic as well as Farm Law impact and to establish normal business activities.
He further mentioned about the need for an Uniform Cess to be levied as the present multi point cess being collected is affecting the Traders Business.

The Director, APMC was very positive and mentioned that the Department has taken action for Entrepreneurs Research Planning (ERP) in APMC for an establishment of the Portal and the Center for E-Governance is developing a Software for implementing.

In respect of cancellation of license notice issued he requested all the Members to reply to the notice and Government will consider favourably their replies for all the genuine License Holders.

In respect of Cess, he mentioned that the issue has been taken up before the Select Committee which is examining the matter.

The Director, APMC replied to all the queries raised by the Members during the Interactive Session.

He also mentioned that his office is always open for the Members to meet him for any issues.
