The Federation of Karnataka chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) has a long history to tell, a history that can be traced back to the erstwhile Mysore Chamber of Commerce, the precursor of FKCCI, which was conceived by Sri M. Visvesvaraya. The then association was established on May 8, 1916 and in 1966-67, its name was enlarged into Mysore Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The organization received its current name, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry in 1973.

The association has a membership of about 2500, drawn from all sectors of trade, commerce and industry, spread over the entire sateincluding 150 district chambers of commerce and trade associations.

FKCCI represents the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Karnataka which adds about 50 percent of the total revenue of the state. In its proclaimed objectives, the association vows to act as a spokesman for business and industry in the state.
