Millet processing great opportunity for Agri Start-ups: FKCCI

FKCCI will join the State Government’s efforts to celebrate the coming year 2023 as International Year of Millets as designated by the United Nations, by working to increase the range of value-added millet products, said B.V. Gopal Reddy, president.

“We had told finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman when she chaired our AGM that we will take active steps to encourage the business community and agri start-ups to produce new varieties of millets and millet processing and boost their exports, as millets is the gold for well-being,” he said and added that “the market for nutritious food products is leapfrogging every year nationally and globally which Karnataka is ideally placed to encash, given that it is a leading producer of millets in the country.”

“We will spread the message about the potential to get a better price for farmers through export of innovative and value-added millet products,” he said.

To hand-hold the business community and agri start-ups keen on foraying into millet processing both for domestic market as well as for export, he said FKCCI will take up a comprehensive analysis of segments, trends, drivers, restraints, competitive landscape and major factors playing a substantial role in harnessing the nutritious food market.
