Chief Minister Responds to Industrialists plea- Agrees to look into their demands

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said that it is a wrong opinion that the Gruha Jyothi scheme’s burden is put on anyone.

He was speaking to the delegation led by Shri B V Gopal Reddy, President of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry who met him today.

Our government has not taken any decision on increasing electricity charges. KERC had decided to increase the charges before our government came to power, he said.

The Chief Minister assured that a separate meeting will be held with Finance, Energy Department, FKCCI, Kasia to discuss the demands submitted by the delegation.

KERC has increased the electricity charges on the industrial sector in its tariff order. The delegation had appealed to reduce electricity tax to 3% from 9% which is levied on small and medium industries and HT industries. It also requested to give discount on fuel escalation charges and also to form MSME
policy and legislation which is already in force in other states.

Manohar, Chairman, State Taxes Committee, FKCCI was present.
